an all-out english lesson.

i think i know how singlish was invented.

just talk to others in the country. you'll realize tht most singaporeans just love to fucking interrupt. it's what i observe anyway, i'm a true blue singaporean myself .

so what i think, is tht we're all getting interrupted all the time, so we started talking in a way where our sentences are incomplete but they mean exactly what we wanted to say, kinda like rushing our sentences so as not to get interrupted.

it just depends on the person you're talking to, actually. if the person is a good listener, you should take the chance to speak in full sentences, to practise your language. tht's a good way to improve your english, i think.

maybe tht's why i prefer writing to speaking. it's the only place where i get to say all tht i mean, i have all the time in the world to finish talking.

first step to improving english: the will. unless you dont wanna speak in proper sentences, then you shouldnt be wanting to improve your language.

second step: the writing. start by writing a personal diary, and try your best to write in proper english. pretend the diary is a compo tht you're gonna pass up to some high class british dude.

third step: speech. there should be some people in your life who are good listeners, sit them down for a talk session, and warn them before-hand not to interrupt you. (in case you dunno, i am willing to be the person you wanna practise with, like seriously. if you wanna.)

well. this is just my humble opinion anyway.

enjoy practising english.

E'indah .
